I developed a bunch of 8x10 photos in the summer. Some of them are my absolute favourites taken this year. I finally managed to get a portion of them up on the wall this morning. I found these fun mats that change the photo to 4x10. Gives them a very different perspective. Very artsy!
Thank goodness for the lovely Oriental woman at our local cleaners. I am hopeless with the simplest of sewing tasks and she managed to hem these new pants for Cole to wear tonight to his first Ranger hockey game!
I do love a deal. I have been trying to find a large colourful autumn "wreath" for our front door. The problem is that I am not fond of wreaths. The front door has been a bit naked. I stumbled upon this cone filled with flowers at Michael's for half off. It is perfect!
The mail brought a delightful surprise. A birthday card from my friend, Judy. It brought a smile to my face and reminded me of how much I miss my friend. Right now, I am sitting sipping on an "Irish Mist" as I type this entry in honour of my dear friend. Wish she were here with me!
While I was at Michael's, I found some 12x12 canvas. A couple of months ago, on 2Peas, I saw a beautiful wall display using decoupaged printed paper and other scrapbooking supplies used to gorgeous affect on a collection of 12x12 canvases. I'm thinking this is what I might do to my "big wall". I have the supplies. Let's just see if I have the talent to pull it off!
Construction. It started in August and will continue through JANUARY! Right at the opening of our little cul-du-sac. I'm sure it will be fantastic when it's done, but it really adds to the time it takes me coming and going all day long.
Waiting for the kids after school. Hallmark magazine has to be one of my favourites. If I could only read one magazine it would be a toss up between this one and Body + Soul. I'm glad I am able to get them both!
Home from school and it's time for fortification. Cole is off to play in his very first REP hockey team as a member of the Rangers AE Team. Louis took him off to his game in Rexdale and I was home to play chauffeur. (Newsflash: Cole played pretty well. He got an assist on the first goal. He had a 'rush' but tripped on the blue line - major brain fart. The team won 5-2 with one team mate ejected and one in the penalty box three times. Cole received no penalties. None! Woohoo!!)
And we're off to pick-up Claire from school. Friday afternoon and everyone is anxious to get home. Well, except us. We took her directly to the Canoe Club.
Claire and Cole are really enjoying learning all the different paddle sports. Tonight Claire was busy with War Canoe (sounds dreadful) but she loved it.
Not a common practice, but on a day like today, McD's is the only form of nourishment for the crew. Though, I did make sure they each had an apple for dessert.
The MOMS Skate Sale was INSANE! We host the annual event at Frozen Ropes and this year we teamed up with the Hornets (the local girls hockey program). There was a steady stream of people with equipment to sell from the time the doors opened at 6PM and closed at 9PM.
Bonus Pic:
It is lovely to see so many people. The chaos has just begun. The actual Skate Sale is tomorrow. We will open Frozen Ropes at 8AM and I can guarantee that rain or shine, there will be a line outside the door. Last year, the first woman showed up at 6:30AM! The sale starts at 9AM and runs to noon. The product not sold can be picked up/donated and any money from the sale collected from 1PM to 3PM. It's going to be another crazy day!
