For the challenge (below), I was asked to choose 3 people I could tell anything to and I chose Lindy, Elaine & Lorraine. It’s true: I can tell them anything. They are my neighbours, friends, and they are the ‘glue’ that keeps my whole Doverwood Drive experience together, I love them dearly.I can tell them anything; but, I can tell Donna more! Maybe not more, but I don’t feel the need not to scandalize or sensor when I tell Donna how I feel about stuff. With Donna I never hold back – there is no filter. Poor Donna. I don’t think she had any idea what she was in for when we met in the scrapbook section of our local Michael’s store a couple of years ago!
This year, I wrangled her into joining the MOMS group – the service arm of our local hockey association – as secretary (I’m Prez and need some support!!), so bless her, she joined and has provided a fantastic sounding board the last few months.
Because of a woman I (we) consider to be a complete flake, I made the comment: “ugh, I’m never going to do a blog; self-indulgent and boring” and then turn around and not have just one blog but TWO!” Donna doesn’t say “never say never” or “I told you so” she just takes it in stride and never makes me feel stupid for the silly things I shouldn’t have said.
She thinks I’m funny, creative and (I’m sure) a bit of a nut. In turn, I want to be like Donna when I grow up – great sense of humour, generous spirit, hugely creative and talented, great mum with energy to burn and daily inspiration. She is always kind when she ‘nails it’ even when the sentiment isn’t kind at all – she always makes it sound so sweet. Like being stung by a hummingbird.
