What a difference a month makes!
Today was much like any other day ... BUSY! Louis was off to an all-day (9 to 6) training session at the MOHA offices which left me to be a parent, chauffeur, nurse, gardener, cheerleader, party planner, etc. all on my own. Not a typical Saturday, but certainly, a typical day ;)
This was my second trip to Ice Sports today ... forgot the camera for the first go-round at 8AM. Caden was on the ice for an hour, then back home to switch kids. Cole is a tremendous skater. This past season there was not much opportunity for him to improve his "hockey sense" but plenty of focus was put on his skating and skills. This conditioning camp has him in with a bunch of players 2 and 3 years his senior. He's holding his own and firmly in the top half.
A nutritious breakfast for me, lunch for Cole: chicken sandwiches at KFC. YUM.
Who knew I had a little gas pumper in the car? After driving clear across town 2, 3, 4, times each day during hockey conditioning is certainly sucking up the black gold and has put mileage on the new vehicle! Plenty of time is being spent filling up at the gas pump - at $1.14/L today (gasp!). Turns out, Louis has taught Cole this particular skill. Go Daddy!!
This is my view through the passenger side mirror. The worst part of the drive to Ice Sports? It takes about 25 minutes to go 15km. The best part? I get to go through our quaint little downtown area - past chi chi stores; the obligatory Starbucks, delicious restaurants, my favourite "Write Impressions", the fabulous LuLu Lemon which I am determined to "shrink into" by the end of the summer!
Another good thing? I pass, multiple times each day, the new location of the second Scrapalicious store. I was at the Open House last evening with my good friend Lorraine. I can envision spending quite a bit of time - and $$ - in this place. Unlike it's predecessor, a stamping shop, this sells the type of materials I use on a regular basis. It will be a relief to just run down the street rather than have to order it in!
Returning home from some errands and just notice this. Our front wall. The snow has finally melted - we get almost no sunlight at the front of the house - and this is the damage left from the sidewalk clearing machine. Ugh. Just one more project repairing something that shouldn't have been broken in the first place.
Isn't that a great name for a home: "House of Morning Calm"? My friend Aily lives here. She's a hoot (and a half!) and a great lady to know.
The order is in. We'll get new hedges and some Chinese Lilacs this spring. Ah Cudmore's , love this place.
My daughter and two pals. On one of our many trips along Lakeshore, we ran into them walking to downtown Bronte for ... ice cream!
Chloe's Hornets Hockey team met for our season-end party at Frozen Ropes. They had a fantastic time. What a great season. The girls got along famously ... as did all of the parents! We know that the team will never be together again and savoured every minute of being together one last time.
Cole (the coach, not my son!) has to be one of the kindest, gentle, polite, formal men I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Truly a delight. He patiently cut the Dairy Queen cake and handed out pieces to each member of the team - and their siblings - with a kind word and a smile. Just lovely.
We have ended our day with Hockey Night in Canada. Montreal is playing Boston, in Montreal. My men are sitting in the den savouring every minute of it! This just in: they've gone into overtime!

Lee! Thank you for the little trip through town. Your pictures are great! I felt like I was with you. =] One day, one day.
Me, too...me, too! I love vicariously living someone else's life. It always looks better.
