It is Cross Country running season here in southern Ontario. A week ago, Cole represented his school and ran in the East Halton meet. He came 3rd in his race and 1st in his school for his age group. He was awesome!
Today was the final race of ALL Halton Region. The top finishers from each school (60+ boys) were represented. Cole was one of them.
It was a beautiful day. Not too hot, not too cold. We got there by 9:15AM for the 10AM start.
He ran really well. We are so proud of him. He even had enough to sprint by a boy at the finish. Gotta love a run with "fire in the belly". Overall he finished 12th for Halton and remains 1st for his school.
Cole has also discovered that he really enjoys running. Who knew? That's great. At least it's a relatively inexpensive sport - shoes only! Oh, and his iPod.
On a personal note: it was so lovely to see so many friends from all over town! Parents of baseball players and hockey players we've played with and against over the years. Parents of former classmates and neighbours. These big sport meets are so much fun to reconnect with people you don't get much of a chance to see. All of our kids did so remarkably well! :)
