Have you ever had one of those weekends where you are just running from one activity to the next? One of those weekends where you anticipated calm and quiet and it turned into something quite different? This is that kind of weekend around here. A bit rough and tumble, kind of like Caden's knees above!
It started with Cole's 3on3 hockey game on Friday (they got spanked, well and truly whooped, 22-0; but he's laughing thank goodness!) and continued from there!
First thing Saturday, I took Chloe grocery shopping, where she drove me crazy with her "performance art" throughout the store (give me strength!) fun, but my little chickie has to learn time and place. Caden went off to lacrosse, his team lost 12-1 and all I can say is I'm glad he wasn't in net this week :) I managed to fit in a couple of loads of laundry - and folded them! Claire had promised to meet friends at Ice Sports to watch some more friends play 3on3 hockey. Claire's friends flaked (as I knew they would, they're predictable) and she stayed for the game and left right after. I waited in the parking lot with my laptop. A nice quiet hour! I got home, took a quick shower and met Louis up at Cole's lacrosse game. It was a 9-9 tie. I rushed home to pick up Chloe for her friend's birthday party sleepover (and a quick trip to the store to get a gift!). Back home to make dinner (ravioli in marinara sauce) then we realized that there was no hockey on - on a Saturday. How could that be?
This morning, I realized dragonboat was canceled for Claire so took advantage and ate a nice leisurely breakfast. Then headed out to pick up Chloe from her friends house and stayed for the girls to perform karayoke for us. They were fabulous! We were home only a few minutes and then a call came in asking little Miss Social to head out to another girlfriends house for the day. In the backyard we discovered the top of our neighbours chimney in the bushes - probably from the wind storm last week - and dropped it off. Cole got himself ready to head over to his buddy's house for some fun in the country and a sleep-over. They're heading to Canada's Wonderland first thing in the morning. I made a great dinner of pork tenderloin and then sent Claire off to watch "Wolverine" with a friend. Chloe's friend from earlier was just dropped off for a sleepover so her mum, my friend, can get a bit of a sleep-in tomorrow morning.
The weekend is nowhere near over as we have a holiday tomorrow. Who knows what's going to go on! Every once in a while you have to have a weekend where all you do is say "yes" to your kids. They're not asking for anything difficult, just logistically challenging. Fortunately it only happens two or three times a year, but I am definitely looking forward to Tuesday.
I do hope you had an enjoyable couple of days "off".
The good news? Amidst all of this chaos, I've started a new photography challenge over at the Blah, Blah, Blahg AND I've kept up with LOAD and created (and posted) these layouts:

Love that last layout, Lee! (Apparently, I'm into alliteration this morning)
I've had several of those kinds of weekends, where all I do is make sure everyone is where they are supposed to be and I don't lose my sanity in the process. Sometimes I'm successful, sometimes I'm not.
