For Today ...

(inspired by the Simple Woman's Daybook)

OUTSIDE MY WINDOW ... I'm enjoying the blinding sparkle of the sunrise on the lake
I AM THINKING ... this is the last day I'll have all four kids home from holiday ... together!
WE ARE LEARNING … that the good intentions of reading one book each week of summer vacation wasn't realized, by any of us!
I AM THANKFUL FOR ... so many things, I'm overwhelmed to tears just thinking of how wonderful my life is and how it is filled with so many good things
FROM THE KITCHEN ... we enjoyed this experiment from Ree Drummond (aka Pioneer Woman) with whom Louis is now completely infatuated. Truly delish!
I AM WEARING ... a white t-shirt, black crop pants, black flip flops (seems to be my summer uniform!)
I AM GOING ... to craft, experiment and go on a scavenger hunt - all day
I AM READING ... all of the lovely e-books I printed from Ella Publishing this past week. Brilliant stuff.
I AM CREATING ... many, many Christmas cards and other holiday goodies
I AM HOPING ... to get a delivery date coordinated with Nel to organize delivery of bunk beds!
I AM HEARING ... the silence of my whole house sleeping. Oops, wrong. Just heard Mario. Caden must be up.
AROUND THE HOUSE ... my kids are 'stuffers' and it's driving me crazy
ONE OF MY FAVOURITE THINGS ... writing. I'm writing a lot and really starting to get into it. To the point of distraction. I don't know if it's a good thing or not, but it makes me feel good!
A FEW PLANS FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK ... this is the first week of school for Chloe and Caden who are returning to their elementary school. Last week we collected their teacher assignments and they seem pleased. I do hope they enjoy themselves! Claire has had a change of heart. Some of her guy buddies have convinced her to try out for the boys rep baseball team for next year. Who am I to say no? I admire her spunk. Cole has three private lessons set up with George to get him into top hockey form - word is the team power skating coach this year seems to prefer them standing in line rather than skating, so we'll do what we can to supplement Cole's conditioning.
A PICTURE TO SHARE ...
(will be posted later, I'm on the wrong computer!) Found it ...

and, I have to say, I'm not ready. This is Claire with her friend Philipp (yes, he of two p's) after they went to RibFest in Burlington yesterday. I have no doubt that Phil will be playing the part of Claire's greatest distraction from school this yesr. This, her first year of high school. He's a sweet boy. Very polite. Very good looking. I think we have to have a talk.
