What a brutal process. REP tryouts, that is.
We feel like we now get to learn the secret handshake and just waiting to take delivery of a secret decoder ring. After four grueling days, Cole made it onto the Oakville REP Minor PeeWee AE (Additional Entry) team last night.
In order for him to make it, that meant some kids previously on the team did not. What a terrible feeling to watch small boys walk - head down, tears streaming - out past all of the adults in the lobby. I was sad for the boys, but the more boys to walk out in tears meant my boy had a better shot of making the team. It was a very strange sensation.
I can't believe we don't have to go to a hockey rink today. Or tomorrow.
What in the world are we going to do? Probably get skates sharpened and get ready for our first 3on3 game on Saturday!

Yeah Cole!!!! You Go!!!!!
I'm so glad he made the team!! How wonderful. Enjoy watching him!!
Yeah Cole. And yes, I'm sure it is a mixed bag when you watch other children leave, having not made the team.
Congrats to your son!
How tough it is to have to watch kids go through this. I feel like I spend lots of time trying to prepare my son for the worst so that he can manage those kinds of disappointments.
